The beautiful and renowned Colorado River is the perfect place for your family to enjoy an adventurous outing in the majestic Colorado outdoors. All tours meet at our Geodesic Dome SUP Headquarters at Rancho Del Rio. All patrons park near the Dome… check-in, fill out waivers, get fitted with equipment, present their vouchers or pay for the tour, and put in, right at our private starting point.
Stand Up Paddle Colorado is one of the first licensed river outfitters to offer SUP trips commercially in the State of Colorado. The Upper Colorado has ideal river sections that can be split according to levels of comfort, safety and athleticism.
SUP is taking the world surfing community by storm and has now entered the realm of the river as well. For this activity, you should be in adequate physical condition and be a comfortable swimmer. Class 2 rapids that may seem like nothing in a raft or kayak are a lot more challenging when standing on a SUP board while navigating through them. There is the potential for spending time in the water. This is why your trip includes instruction and a guide.
The tour begins with a safety talk and orientation. The first part of the tour includes an explanation of basic river dynamics and board and paddle familiarization. Only then does the tour advance into the rapids. There is always an SUP ACA Swiftwater accredited guide on the trip with never more than a 4/1 customer to guide ratio. Wetsuits and booties are provided on all trips along with helmets and PFD’s.
The 2-2.5 hr tour finishes at State Bridge. You will be picked up by our shuttle van and taken back to the Dome Headquarters, where we began the tour. We encourage you to hang out and enjoy the beautiful setting at Rancho and use our picnic area if you bring food and drink.
Our tours until, 2 PM, allow a rafting add-on where younger children, friends and family who would prefer to spectate can be guided along with the paddlers to enjoy the scenic tour and offer hoots of encouragement to the paddlers.
